In 2012, the company once again did a team-up, this time with Cyanide to produce Of Orcs and Men. In 2013, Spiders released Mars: War Logs, and then Bound By Flame launched in 2014. Unlike its partnerships on adventure games, this was developed entirely by Spiders. In 2010, it released Faery: Legends of Avalon on PC, Xbox 360, and PS3. It also ventured into fantasy tales more than anything else when it came to the setting of such games. This too came just to the Xbox 360, instead of being on both Microsoft and Sony's console.Īpparently divesting itself a bit when it came to the kind of games it worked on, Spiders spent quite a bit of time even in the early years working on RPGs. Gray Matter was an even more straightforward point-and-click adventure where the developers worked with Wizardbox on the console port for the PC game. In between those Sherlock adventures, Spiders worked on several other new games, though for the most part it had the same kind of deal as it did with Frogwares. This time, the game came to both the Xbox 360 and the PS3. Two years later, Spiders ported The Testament of Sherlock Holmes to consoles as well. Interestingly, the game never made its way to Sony's PS3 console. Frogwares, which has continued to put out games in the series, was the company that initially developed the title on PC. The first game the studio worked on was released 11 years ago: Back in 2010, before Steelrising was even a robotic glint in the studio's eye, the company brought Sherlock Holmes Versus Jack the Ripper from the PC to the Xbox 360. Spiders worked on two games in the long-running franchise. The difference, of course, is that the Sherlock games were more about solving a mystery than surviving a zombie apocalypse. Both games centered around the famous British detective in adventure games similar to what gamers might be used to in something like The Walking Dead. We don't have a firm release date just yet, but I would expect more news as we move toward Gamescom. Before Greedfall helped put Spiders on the map with the last generation of consoles, the company was best known as working with Frogwares to bring Sherlock Holmes to the Xbox 360 and PS3. Steelrising is set to launch on PC, PS4, and Xbox Series X. They want the transition between combat and exploration to feel more cohesive. They're also pushing to make the overall package feel more fluid. The team also wants to include more elements of verticality. Time will tell what that looks like for Spiders, but it's great to see them pushing in the right direction. Speaking to that, Spiders CEO Jehanne Rousseau confirmed that they're looking to build a more "action-focused" game. If Spiders can match their world with a great game, they might have a hit on their hands. While it might not be the best video game ever made, it's premise might've been the best thing going for it. It's certainly an intriguing premise, but that's kind of what Spiders has become known for lately. And, it's your job to fight back against the tyrannical rule of King Louis XVI and his robot army. You play as Aegis, a female robot tasked with protecting Marie-Antoinette. As you can see in the teaser, Steelrising exists in an alternate future where automatons were prevalent during the French Revolution.
